*Words... Just for the record, "foyer" and "cafe" rhyme in my book. My rule of thumb is: However Sydney Poiter would say it, will suit me just fine. (By the way, Sid's last name does not rhyme with goiter.) For those who might disagree with a hearty, "So what if "foyer" is a French word. We're not IN France!" I would simply remind us that the next time we drive our Chevrolet down to a restaurant that has a few more stars than Cracker Barrel, after we leave the car with the valet we just might order escargots as an hors d'oeuvre and a glass of merlot might be a nice libation to accompany that juicy filet mignon that you ordered medium rare, never well done. |
