Praying Through the Armor of God  Ephesians 6:13-17

Lord, I put on Your belt of truth. Thank you, Lord, for showing me the truth about Yourself. Thank you for reminding me that You are the only God, the Creator of heaven and earth, the King of the universe, my Father who loves me, and my Shepherd who leads me. You are my Wisdom, my Counselor, my Hope, and my Strength. You are everything I need each day. Lord, help me to discern the voices of truth and lies as this day unfolds.

Lord, I put on Your breastplate of righteousness. Thank you for showing me the truth about myself--that on my own I could never be good enough to live in your presence. Thank you for taking my sins to the cross and offering me a right relationship with You. Lord, show me any sin that I need to confess right now, so that nothing will hinder me from being filled to overflowing with your Spirit. [Take time for confession] Thank you for giving me a life that's pleasing to You.

Lord, I put on the shoes of readiness. Thank you for the peace you give me knowing that my faith is firmly grounded in You, Lord. My relationship with you is the foundation of my life, and because of that, I will be ready and standing firmly to receive your marching orders for my day. Lord, lead me and I will follow, leaving Your footprints wherever I go.

Lord, I pick up Your shield of faith. Thank you for this most important piece of armor, Lord. I realize that based on Your Word, the faith You provide me: saved me, gives me victory over sin and temptation, pleases You, is needed for prayer, and provides me peace & joy. I realize Lord, that its power snuffs out any arrows the evil one will fling at me today. (Rehearse your daytell God what temptations you'll face and ask for His victory over them through faith.)

Lord, I put on the helmet of salvation. Lord, thank You so much for saving me. Lord, I pause and ponder Jesus' death on a cross that paid for my sin once and for all.  (Stop and think about the crucifixion, that it happened for you, personally, to cover your sins. Tell God what comes to your heart.) Lord, as I put on this helmet I realize I am Your son/daughter forever. I know that nothing can ever separate me from You and for that I am grateful.

And lastly, Lord, I pick up the sword of the Spirit. Thank you for sword, Your Word, the Holy Bible. Thank You for making Your Word so readily available to me in translations I can clearly understand. Help me Lord, to open it and read it daily. Help me to memorize key verses that will help me overcome the temptations in my life. Show me Scriptures that You know I'll need to overcome any battle today. Help me to know You better and fend off the evil one through Your Word.
