Slate had a good year at the plate. Few strike outs & a handful of doubles and a triple.
He did a good job of keeping his head down on the ball and working on a solid smooth swing.
Slater got a chance to be the starting catcher the first handful of games.
He got hit by some foul-tipped balls and learned that catching is a tough job & that ice is handy at a ball park ;-) It was a great experience for him.
He did a great job of keeping his eye on the ball & keeping most of them from getting by him.
We set a South Side minor league record by beating a team 33-13!!
